Just a Touch of Senioritis

I am so ready for this quarter to be over. I don’t want to go to these classes anymore, I want it to be spring and I want to graduate. I want to be a grad student and stop taking classes that are full of pretentious freshman (though I guess that’s my fault for spacing out my gen-eds the way that I did!) and learn about things that I actually have an interest in. Only 108 days until graduation! Then, hopefully, grad school. If not, well, I guess I’ll figure it out. My cousin Stefan owns a web design/development firm in Paris, and he’s said before that I could move over there for a while, and work for him. We’ll see, I guess.

In other news, I hurt my ankle pretty badly on Monday night at ballet. I was at the barre, tondue-ing my little heart out, and there was this terrible pop and then pain. Sweet Jesus was there pain. I sat down and watched the rest of the class and then hobbled home to bed, where I’ve been pretty much ever since. It’s finally starting to feel better, and even though it made me feel incredibly lazy, I’m glad that I took it easy for two days. I made the mistake of taking on too much, too soon when I sprained my foot in August. I’ll wrap it up and be good to go by tomorrow.

I feel bad about missing Latin for two days in a row. I emailed my TA and he seems to be pretty understanding, which is good, and my medieval studies class isn’t meeting this week since our prof. is in Berlin. I’ve missed a lot of class this quarter because for some reason, my body hates me. First, it was swine flu, then gallbladder attacks, and now, my stupid, stupid foot. I think I’ve only missed about 10 days, all said and done,  and 6 of them were in one straight shot during the first week. Which isn’t that bad, I guess. I’ve missed Latin the most, since it’s every day – I’ve only missed Medieval Studies once (during my week when I was ill) and Political Science for 3 days after that first week, including today.  I’m going to talk to my TA for that class on Friday during his office hours and explain what’s been going on. Luckily, I’ve been doing pretty well, and I should end up with a B+ in the class. I’ve gotten A+ on both of my presentations for medieval studies, and it seems that everyone else is struggling just as much as I am with Latin.

Is it bad that I’m more worried about two 100 level classes than I am about my Medieval Studies 695 class? Why do I always do better in 500 and 600 level classes, and barely scrape by in some 100 level courses?
