Winding down…

Winding down…

There is exactly one week left in Winter Quarter (besides finals week, and I don’t really count that).  School’s been really hectic lately since there’s a ton of stuff to be done this week – we have to finish an entire section in Latin, read all of Inferno and write a 10-12 page paper for medieval studies, and a 3 page paper for political science. I also have a dance recital a week from Monday, which is bad, because I have no idea what’s going on. Yeah. I’m that girl. At least I’m in the back?

I also haven’t been feeling the greatest lately. I’m exhausted all the time and I’ve had three gallbladder attacks in the last week.  It took three months to get a doctors appointment to see what was going on – and all he said was, “Yep. It looks like either your galbladder or your pancreas. Let’s do some blood tests, get you an ultrasound, and I’ll see you within a month. And if you start looking a little yellow or green, make sure you get to the ER.”

They took three vials of blood yesterday (and I’m such a huge baby, so I freaked out and the nurse couldn’t find my viens and had to talk me through the entire thing. But I didn’t throw up, which makes it 100000x better than the last time I had blood taken). The ultrasound will be sometime in the next two weeks, and I’m going back on April 9th to see the doctor. I wish that it could be sooner – I lose my health insurance on June 13 (Graduation Day), and the surgery is going to be expensive enough with insurance. But the 9th was the first appointment that they had available. I can’t believe some people (Mom, Dad, looking at you here) fail to see that there’s a massive problem with the healthcare industry in this country when I’m paying a ton of money to see a doctor, and I have to wait three months to see him initially, and then I can’t even see him in the timeframe that he wants because he’s overbooked.

Yep, no problem at all. >.>

In other news,  I have a project or two under way, and a new theme in the works, since it’s been less than a month and I’m so sick of this one already. And still no word from any grad schools. No news is good news in this case, right?

  • I can't believe you had to wait 3 months for your first appointment D: I hope everything's okay and you don't need surgery!

    What kind of dance are you doing?

    • Jenny

      @Kaylee I’m taking ballet!
      And I couldn’t believe it, either. But he was the only doctor under my insurance plan who was accepting new patients and was on the bus route.

  • Three months to get a doctor to see you is ridiculous! What if the patient didn't have 3 months to spare? I can't believe you're going to have to wait another month after that to see the doctor again too. Hope it's nothing too serious, and good luck with your dance recital and papers!

  • Three months to get a doctor's appointment. This reminds me of Planned Parenthood which took about the same time. I was alright with the wait but I can't believe the delay for something serious like this took so darn long. ARGH. I hope everything is alright?

    Good luck on your paper on Inferno! Dante's?

  • my mom had to get her gallbladder removed 'cause it was causing all kinds of problems for her including the threat of cancer. i just hope i don't have the same problems :( 'cause that would be bad.
