December already?

December already?

Honestly, I can’t believe that November just flew by like that. I mean, I was pretty busy with Nanowrimo (which I failed, ugh) and then the trip out to Ohio for Thanksgiving and the wedding. We also had our first adventures with a pet-sitter! Eric was a little wary, since I found her on Craigslist, but she did a great job and the cats were still alive when we got home. I chalk it up to being a good judge of character. :P

Thanksgiving was great, although we forgot stuffing! We had two turkeys and a ham, though, so it’s not like anyone went hungry. Eric’s cousin’s wedding was really nice, and we had a lot of fun. We stopped in Columbus on our way out and had a skype date with Tricia at Alice’s apartment, and then took my laptop to MadMex while we ate our gobbleritos and Skyped with her there, too! She’s in Ohio now, which sucks, because we missed her by two days. :(

Then, yesterday I gave my paper on Melusine … it went really, really well. The room was packed (I suppose I shouldn’t have been surprised that a session on monsters would be popular!) and there were three of us who gave papers – one on Grendal’s mother, one of Vlad Dracul, and then mine, on Melusine. The other papers were great, too, and I’m really happy that I was given the opportunity to present mine! My family came, and I’m glad that I got to see everyone, especially since I wasn’t home for Thanksgiving. I was able to see Ranger (my parent’s puppy) who is HUGE now. Well, not like HUGE HUGE because he’s a bulldog and they don’t get that tall, but he’s solid. And his face is so ugly-adorable I can’t stand it. Basically, we’re still as madly in love as we were the last time I was there. He hopped on the couch into MY lap instead of my dad’s, lol. Like I said, madly in love.

AND OMG I can’t believe I didn’t mention this before, but I’m writing this ON THE TRAIN. I’m on my way back to DC right now. I’m tethered to my phone, which isn’t as cool as having wi-fi on the train, but hey. It’s something, at least. And they have plugs. PLUGS. I think I only ever want to travel by train again. Too bad it’s so expensive.

How was everyone else’s November?

  • Sounds like you had a great time in Ohio :) My November was pretty uneventful, I did win nano just barely, but didn't get much else accomplished. Being an adult is too time consuming, I'd rather be reading! So, for December that's what I'm planning to do: make a huge dent in my to be read shelf. If things go as planned, after December I won't have time for anything at all but working.

Glad your kitties were well treated by the cat sitter :)
