So, Eric and I finally got our Christmas tree yesterday and decorated it. I had argued very strongly for a real one (because that’s just what my family does, we have real trees) and he had argued equally for a fake one (which is what HIS family has every year). In the end, Eric ended up winning – not because I think that fake trees are better, but because not only are we going to be gone for a few days over Christmas, we don’t have a stand, or anyway to trim the stump, or anywhere to put it when Christmas is over (our building just has a trash chute). So, I caved, and we ended up going to Target, where there were pretty slim pickings on the tree front.
We ended up with a very pretty (and realistic looking!) 7.5′ tree, which I am SO happy with. We only got one box of ornaments, the tree topper, a strand of green beads, and some ribbon, so I was worried that the tree might look bare, but actually, I think it looks quite lovely all lit up:

Here’s a picture of it in daylight, so you can see the actual colors (it’s from my phone, so the quality sucks, sorry):

I LOVE all of the colors and I’m so so proud of how it looks. And it will look awesome with our new couch which is coming on FRIDAY, just in time for our Christmas party!
YES. YES. WE FINALLY WILL HAVE A COUCH. It’s green and soft and beautiful and the cushions are reversible, so it still can have the tufted-with buttons look that I love.
I am SO excited. I don’t think anyone except Eric and maybe my mom can understand the level of excited that I’m feeling right now. Audra is taking our futon mattress, and we can finally say goodbye to our poor broken little futon frame and stop worrying that the futon will collapse every time we sit down. I can’t wait!

Well, from one family that has never had a Christmas tree (no room in the house) I would say that yours is just about my fav. It doesn't have too much on it, nor is it bare. Plus it just gives crafty friends like me incentive to make you ornaments for next year, lol.

Aww, thanks Hev.
I'm glad you like it. And I think that was always my favorite part about our tree growing up – it was full of ornaments that meant something, from family and friends and trips and such. It was a tree full of memories.
Hopefully ours will be like that one day!

Aww, your Christmas tree looks beautiful! I can't believe you only used one box of decorations, too. If our family (and me) wasn't so lazy, we'd put up a tree too, but the only thing "Christmas" we have up is a wreath on the front door, lol.

I like your tree, it's very colorful! You'll fill it in as the years go by. My family has always bought a new ornament every year, not necessarily commemorating anything but just a new one we like. My husband's Mom collects a Hallmark ornament for each of her kids every year out of their series (my husband's is houses and it's still going — the others' have stopped).
The good thing about fake trees is that if you do want a real tree one year, the fake one will be fine left in it's box.

@ Jenny: Thanks!
It was a big box, I guess. It had about 40 ornaments in it … but it was only $12 at Target, so … long story short, I love Target!!
@ Amanda: I'm hoping that we can fill it out a bit more in the next few years.
And I'm warming up to the fake tree. It is pretty and there are no pine needles on the floor! I guess that's a win!

just think of all those pine-needles you wont have to vacuum up every day xD
