First post of 2011!!

Eric told me last night that I had to blog because my “constituents were unhappy with their lack of insight into my life” or something to that effect. I guess you all are constituents now?? Hah.

One of my resolutions is to blog at least once a week – it’s something that I’ve always meant to do and hey, why not? Part of me wants to promise to blog every other day or even every day but that seems a little unrealistic – I mean, what would I write about? It’s not like I’m having amazing adventures overseas like someone I know … though that would be awesome.

Soooooooo the holidays were fun, if exhausting. I spent time with my family, finally made it to some of the museums around here, and read about 5 books in the course of a week. Kelly and I did a lot of this:

And of course, there was a lot of this on Christmas:

And this:

And we even managed to take a family portrait:
We are a super photogenic family, hah.

Having the entire week off was glorious and over too soon.

We’re taking the tree down this weekend and also getting rid of a ton of stuff. A TON. Eric and I started to do laundry because I am sick of lugging a ton with us when we visit my parents and SWEET MOTHER OF GOD between the two of us we have an obscene OBSCENE amount of clothing. Seriously. And what’s even more obscene about it is … I can never find anything to wear.

Yeah. I’m that girl.

The problem is, nothing fits me right now, at least, not the way it’s supposed to. Which is weird, because I’ve been eating really, really well and hooping and my waist itself is smaller and I feel better about myself, but it’s like everything just shifted down which means while my shirts look great, my pants don’t fit very well. Which is really depressing and discouraging and leaves me feeling reeeeeeaaallly insecure when all of a sudden my size 8 pants are just too small and the size 10s are still too big.

ANWYAY, to compound it all, I have clothes that I haven’t worn in YEARS. So I’m getting rid of everything that I haven’t worn in the past 6 months, shoes included. Everything that I’m not crazy about, gone.

The size 8 pants I’m still holding onto, even though I look like a sausage in them at the moment, because maybe this is just a temporary thing. I mean, my j. crew pants actually buttoned today, which they haven’t done in a week, and they look good enough on. Maybe next week, or the week after that, they’ll actually fit. One can hope.

Anyway, we need to get rid of stuff, because the apartment is only so big. Eric has even more clothes than I do, I think.

This post has gotten incredibly off-topic and I’m rambling, so … focus. Okay. What’s next?

Okay. Now onto business. I almost forgot. I came up with a list of 11 things that I want to do in 2011. They’re more of a goal list versus “RESOLUTIONS”, honestly, but I guess that difference is only in my head. Without further ado, here they are:

  1. Write or read every day
    • Read at least 52 books this year (4 down so far!)
    • Finish my novel and edit it – this time next year I want to start querying it.
  2. Blog at least once a week
  3. Make a budget and stick with it
    • Save at least $300/month
    • Pay off my credit card
    • Pack a lunch every day
  4. Live with less
    • Don’t be afraid to throw stuff out
    • Only buy what I need
  5. Get organized
  6. Clean daily
  7. Get to my happy weight
    • Hoop every day
    • Eat less processed foods
    • Make an effort to go to the gym every once in a while
    • Take the stairs to my office
  8. Develop more of a personal style
  9. Be happy with myself and where I am right now. Complain less. Live in the moment.
  10. Do one new or exciting thing at least every month.
  11. Make an effort to talk to my friends and family more

That’s not too terrible of a list, right? Every single one of the things on that list is attainable, and I’m super excited to see what 2011 brings me!

  • Your list sounds like something I would write. Good luck with them all! Glad you had a fun holiday. My husband received a nerf gun from my parents this year, it was a belt fed one, so there was a lot of that on Christmas at our house, too. lol.

  • Those are some great resolutions you made :) I tried to blog once a week, too, but now I'm happy if I can blog once a month, haha. And omg, I'm scared to clean out my closet because I know I'll have a TON (I wouldn't be surprised if they weighed that much) of clothes that I don't want -_-
Anyways, I hope 2011 will be an awesome year for you :)

  • Last year I called my resolutions list "goals", and this year I am just calling a to-do list. That way I feel less terrible when I fail miserably, haha.

Good luck with your goals! :D A lot of those are things I want to do too. I hope your 2011 is great! :D
