YOU GUYS.

I’ve been so busy lately. I’ve barely had time to THINK, let alone write or blog or tweet. I currently have over 1,000 unread items in my google reader. This is insane.

The past few weeks at work have been so busy. I know I always complain about not having enough to do, so I’m not complaining about being busy, it’s just … feast or famine, you know? I barely come up for air all day, and then I go home and just … zone out. And become completely obsessed with My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding. (Seriously, those DRESSES!) But that’s neither here nor there.

There’s been some minor family drama over this whole wedding thing – mainly, it came to a head when I put my foot down and made it very clear to certain family members that having a church wedding was not, and will never be, an option.  I took everyone to the place where the wedding will be (OH YES, DID I TELL YOU? WE HAVE A DATE AND A VENUE!) and I kept hearing, “Well, this will be a lovely place for a RECEPTION” cough cough.  Or telling me how lovely my dress would look in a church. Or telling me how not getting married in a church would scar my younger cousins – THINK OF THE CHILDREN, JENNY.

There had already been grumblings about my non-matching bridesmaids, groomsmen in suits instead of tuxes, no DJ, etc. etc., which I grumbled about on twitter with some of you, but this was over the top.  I stood my ground, and there were lots of tears, but I think I’ve made myself clear and all of this is behind us. I hope.

Let’s see, what else? I kind of bought a wedding dress (!!!!) but I’m not going to say anything about it here for obvious reasons. (HI, ERIC). I’d be more than happy to send a link to anyone who wants to see it who ISN’T Eric – not that he’d ask, because I have no problem with him seeing it, but he doesn’t want to know anything about it. Let’s just say it’s lovely and vintagey- and classic and I didn’t want to take it off. It goes perfectly with our Mad Men – meets – county fair feel we’re going for.

In other non-wedding related news (which has kind of taken over my life, but now I’m hoping it will calm down a bit now that some of the BIG THINGS are out of the way), summer has kind of snuck up on me. I think it’s because this is the first year that I don’t really have a “summer break” – work is work is work. Sigh.

What else?

OH OH if you’ve been following me on twitter, you’ll know that Eric and I are moving on SATURDAY. I am so excited to move into our new place – it’s perfect, and decorate and post pictures and just be happy there. It’s really sudden, yeah, but it’s just … wait until you see it. You’ll understand. :)

How are YOU doing?

JEN JEN JEN SEND ME A LINK PLEASE. <3

  • Good for you for standing up to your family members! I don't want to get married in a church either. I'm sure my family will be disappointed but I can't see it turning Ito an argument (well maybe one exception- my mom haha).

And OMG please do send me a link to your dress. I'd love to see it! :D

  • Well, it is your day after all, and if a church is not your thing, than why do it? Good for you for sticking up for yourself. It's always hardest against family.

And I'd love to see the dress :)

  • Wow, that drama sounds ridiculous. It's YOUR wedding; shouldn't it be how YOU want it to be? Anyway, the wedding sounds AWESOME, so they're silly. :P

I would loooove a link, your dress sounds beautiful!

  • aunt d

this family that you are "against" will always love you very much and always has no matter how much you hurt her. I hope you remember that I have always been there for you. When people really love eachother they try to keep them from making mistakes and they don't yes them.
